Roman Polanski Says The Media Is Doing Their Best To Make Him Into A 'Monster'

During a new conversation with the outlet, Paris Match, Roman Polanski revealed his thoughts on the recent press surrounding his batch of sexual misconduct allegations, one for which he was convicted and another that was recently revealed.

Obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, Roman sat down with Paris Match and stated the media has been trying to make him into a “monster.” Published today, Wednesday, December 11th, Roman found himself in the headlines once again regarding an incident involving a teenage actress in the late 1970s in Switzerland. To make matters worse, Polanski already left the United States in 1978 after he was charged and convicted for the statutory rape of a 13-year-old girl. Ironically, Roman alleges Weinstein once accused him of being a “child rapist” to stop him from winning the 2003 Oscar for The Pianist.

As it was previously reported, Polanski was accused earlier this year of rape by the French photographer, Valentine Monnier, allegations which he described as “absurd.” Polanski has been marred by allegations for years related to the aforementioned statutory rape charges as well.

Valentine accused Roman of raping her when she was 18-years-old at his Swiss chalet. Coincidentally, the accusations were published by the Parisien just as he was about to start the press promotions for his movie, An Officer and a Gentleman.

During a chat with Paris Match, Polanski also stated he didn’t have any memory of ever hitting Valentine, because he didn’t do it, and the story was simply untrue. “I do not hit women,” Mr. Polanski stated.

Moreover, Roman claims the allegations hit the press for the second time during the early 2000s when The Pianist was up for an Oscar, and Harvey Weinstein began resurrecting the 1978 statutory rape story to thwart his Oscar win.

Roman said Mr. Weinstein started rumors about him for the sake of promoting his own movie, Chicago, which went on to win big at the Academy Awards, including for best picture, and five others. Polanski claims Harvey and Samantha Geimer dug up the old case, “which at the time, no one was interested in.”

Roman added that for years, the media has been doing everything in their power to make him into a “monster.”

Besides the trailer, a Special Developer Message five-minute video was also released on Capcom’s official YouTube channel. This message highlighted elements from the game, such as the new character appearances and what players can expect to see in Raccoon City.

The new video features Producers Masachika Kawata and Peter Fabiano. The video starts off showing Raccoon City as protagonist Jill Valentine first experiences it.

There’s also additional information regarding the character design changes. Jill’s previous clothing, a tube top, and mini-skirt have been swapped out for a tank top and pants to reflect the “action” of the game.

Carlos Oliveira has also had a significant physical change. He now sports shaggy, curly hair along with some facial hair. Kawata also describes Carlos as appearing as someone Jill can rely on.

For those missing the original designs, they are available free when pre-ordering the game.

As for gameplay, Resident Evil 3 will have an over-the-shoulder camera. From the trailer, it appears that some footage at the beginning will have a first-person perspective. Kawata stated that RE3 would have more action than Resident Evil 2, where the main characters were primarily inside the Police Department.

Nemesis will have new ways to track Jill throughout the city, which is different from the Tyrant (or Mr. X) from Resident Evil 2. Nemesis is on a hunt to eliminate all members of S.T.A.R.S. The game focuses on Jill’s attempts to escape the city along with dodging Nemesis.

There was also some information regarding Resident Evil: Resistance. RE: R will be packaged with the release of RE3. It will be a multiplayer game with four survivors. There is one person, a “Mastermind,” who sets up various obstacles and enemies on the map. The survivors have to survive the Mastermind’s tricks to win.

At the end of the video, the Collector’s Edition is showcased. The limited-edition comes with a statue of Jill. It’s the same size as Leon Kennedy’s Collector’s Edition from Resident Evil 2, making them perfect display pieces.

Resident Evil 3’s official launch date is April 3, 2020, and will be released on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

We’re inching ever-closer to the end of the 2019 year, and that means various things to various people.  New ‘end of the world’ predictions loom large, children are excited as Christmas is just around the corner, and professional Counter-Strike: Global Offensive players are being whisked around the world attempting to get to every championship that’s offering massive prize pools.

It makes sense that it would be absolutely exhausting, as there is an absurd amount of events that all conglomerate around the end of the year; starting November and lasting until the end of December.  It’s a wild two months of plane riding globe-hopping, leaving no room for rest, family, or even practice.

Professional players are beginning to speak up about this, stating that they might not attend events next year if it continues.  There’s the United Masters League that begins at the start of November, Loot.BET Season from November until the end of December, ESL Pro League Final December 3rd-8th, ESEA Season that is smattered throughout November, IEM Katowice qualifiers, Dreamhack, 2 BLAST events with the upcoming one in Bahrain, cs_summit in LA, EPICENTER 2019 in Moscow, and Champions Cup Finals in Malta.

Of course they’re exhausted.  The schedules of Counter-Strike‘s top teams is obscene, due to the fact that there are so many Tournament Organizers (TO’s) hosting events around the world.  With Valve allowing anyone to host a tournament (assuming that a bare minimum of essentials are provided to all teams), you end up with a lot of competitions scattered throughout the year.  Teams eager to maintain their ranking need to continue to compete in top tournaments, lest their rankings (based on points) slip.  On top of that, keeping everyone focused on Counter-Strike is essential for your teams’ victory.  If your strongest opponents are grinding an event every week, and you opt for your team to only grind on an event a month, your opponents will topple you very quickly.

When questioned further, ‘gla1ve’ had this to say: ‘I think it is pretty sad that it is scheduled like this. If this happens again maybe we will say no to one tournament, even if it is the finals’.

Tournament Organizers would do well to stagger their tournament times even further if they want to continue to attract the biggest names in Counter-Strike.  When a tournament can attract the powerhouses of Counter-Strike, their viewership numbers will skyrocket through the roof.  Conversely, if they only can attract sub-top-fifty, their numbers will hurt, which will consequentially affect advertisement dollars.

With the beginning of 2020 already planned out, all teams can do is cross their fingers for being a bit more rested come next holiday season.
